What is an endoscopic brow lift?

A brow lift aims to elevate the eyebrows, correcting the wrinkles that appear on the forehead and creating a much more youthful appearance, offering a much clearer and more open look, guaranteeing satisfactory results almost from the start. This procedure has been performed routinely for many years, but it has recently gained popularity thanks to the incorporation of endoscopic techniques.

 

What benefits does the endoscopic technique offer?

Traditionally, brow lifts were performed openly, meaning with incisions in the forehead, working below the epidermis. Now, with endoscopy, only a few incisions are made—about 5, each measuring about 1.5 cm—in the scalp, making them imperceptible to the eye. Microscopic cameras then work on the muscular ligaments that support the eyebrows to achieve the desired tension and ensure that the eyebrows are positioned. Obviously, the endoscopic technique is much less invasive than other traditional techniques because the incisions made in the patient’s skin are smaller, resulting in a much faster recovery. Brow lifts are often performed in conjunction with an upper blepharoplasty, although in these cases, the latter is intended to be somewhat more conservative, as some of the effects are already achieved with the brow lift.

 

Who is the ideal candidate for a brow lift?

Although, like any other cosmetic surgery, a brow lift can be performed on anyone who truly believes they need it and has realistic expectations after consulting with their cosmetic surgeon, the truth is that the most common patients are women over 40. Thanks to a brow lift, they can rejuvenate the upper third of their face, achieving a much more youthful appearance. However, as with blepharoplasty, it only achieves a general rejuvenation, not a dramatic change in facial features.
