Nanofat Treatment
The Nanofat technique involves extracting the patient’s own fat through a small liposuction in the umbilical area and filtering it to obtain only the stromal portion of the adipose tissue for infiltration into the desired area.
What is Nanofat?
It is a regenerative treatment with stem cells obtained from the stromal portion of adipose tissue.
To put it simply, adipose tissue contains two types of cells: fat cells or adipocytes, and stromal cells, which include stem cells . These stem cells in the stromal portion have a significant capacity for tissue regeneration .
Given the easy accessibility of adipose tissue and its high concentration of stem cells, it is the ideal donor for obtaining this regenerative preparation.
Nanofat treatment for dark circles is not a form of fat filling, as adipocytes are eliminated during the filtering process. Therefore, it is also free from the known risks of lipofilling in this area, primarily the appearance of lumps or irregularities.
Who is this dark circles treatment indicated for:
Candidates are primarily those who have aging in the area around their eyes, especially if they have pigmentation in the area.
These are patients who are not candidates for lower blepharoplasty because they do not have excess fat, but rather have dark circles under their eyes.
It can sometimes be performed in conjunction with lower blepharoplasty. The treatment can also be applied to the entire facial area, the neckline, or to treat unsightly scars.
How is the Nanofat treatment performed?
Since the volume of fat required for Nanofat treatment is small (about 10cc), minimal liposuction is required and it can be performed under local anesthesia without the need for surgery.
Discomfort in the area is minimal. Once the fatty tissue has been extracted, it is filtered, a process that takes just a few minutes, and prepared in syringes with very fine needles, as the resulting product is liquid and very easy to handle.
Post-operative: The treated area will present some inflammation, especially for 1 week, but it can be made up from the first moment and is always less than that of a blepharoplasty .
The patient will be able to lead a normal life. The final effects of the treatment will appear over the course of weeks or even months , as the integration and differentiation of stem cells is not immediate.
