Brow lift at the time of blepharoplasty

Brow lift at the time of blepharoplasty

Over time, eyebrows lose their original shape, giving our faces an aged and tired appearance. This effect is very noticeable because they are found on the face and, even worse, around the eyes, which are naturally expressive. As with the bags that appear on the upper and lower eyelids, drooping eyebrows can occur due to the passing of time and for genetic reasons . Furthermore, gravity also contributes to the eyebrows changing their anatomical position and sagging. This inevitably leads to excessive skin accumulation on the upper eyelids. Fortunately, however, there are now various techniques that can solve this problem, such as eyebrow lifts.

It’s quite common for us to discuss the possibility of an eyebrow lift when we see a patient for their first blepharoplasty visit . We generally recommend this to those with low or drooping eyebrows, since, in some cases, the results of upper blepharoplasty are limited or impeded by a drooping eyebrow. Below is a brief summary of the techniques we can use to address the problem of drooping eyebrows:

Brow lift techniques during blepharoplasty

Direct browplasty

It offers great brow-lifting power , but has the disadvantage of making the incision in an area that may be visible for a while. The incision is placed just above the eyebrow follicles, and these are used to hide the scar.

Through the blepharoplasty incision

It doesn’t require any additional incisions other than those made during the blepharoplasty itself. It works perfectly for small brow lifts ; however, it doesn’t work as well for severely drooping eyebrows.

Endoscopic forehead and brow lift

Through hidden incisions in the scalp, we perform an endoscopic dissection of the forehead and can lift and stretch it to the desired height. A complete endoscopic forehead lift or just the tail of the brow can be performed . All of the aforementioned techniques yield excellent results if applied appropriately and the patient is properly explained what to expect from each one.
