Postoperative care after blepharoplasty
One of the main aspects to consider before undergoing any surgical procedure, especially when it involves a cosmetic procedure that, in principle, is not based on a real medical need, is what the postoperative period will be like and how the patient will be able to cope with the recovery period.
How is the patient feeling after the intervention?
Naturally, immediately after surgery, the patient will experience swollen face and some bruising in the treated area, due to the pressure the surgeon applied to the area in order to remove excess fat.
This swelling gradually subsides, and cold compresses are usually applied, ensuring that the patient keeps their head elevated at all times while lying down.
It is also common for the eyes to feel somewhat drier than usual during the first few days after surgery due to a lack of tears, which can lead to some itching.
For this reason, the use of eye drops is often recommended to keep the eyes hydrated during the first few weeks after surgery, while also ensuring that they are cleaned regularly.
Otherwise, the patient should not experience any further discomfort and can return to normal life , returning to their job, within a period of no more than ten days. This means they can return to their daily routine almost immediately.
In short, blepharoplasty is a procedure with a simple, uncomplicated postoperative period that allows for rapid recovery, allowing patients to return to their normal lives in a short period of time.
Of course, the results of blepharoplasty should not be overestimated and it should be kept in mind that it is only a facial rejuvenation process and, in no case, a radical change. In other words, you cannot expect to end the procedure with a different face, but simply a slight regression in the aging process.
